After reading up on taking better Iphone pictures I decided to install the KitCam app. It’s on sale right now for $.99 so it was hard to pass up. The feature that everyone seems to think makes this app stand above the rest is the ability to control the white balance among others features that make your iphone behave like a DSLR. I thought today’s lunch concert would be an ideal test for this app. While I definitely need to learn more about white balance in general I think that my pictures did indeed improve especially in the low light setting of the studio. One thing that drove me nuts though was trying to figure out how to zoom in on the camera. It’s definitely not intuitive For a while I thought maybe this app doesn’t have that feature, but that couldn’t be, this app is touted as one of the best camera apps out there so there’s no way it doesn’t have a zoom. I was never able to figure out the zoom at the concert which is too bad, because I was in a position to take some pretty interesting pictures. I should have gone back to the standard camera, taken the zoomed in shots and later import them to Kitcam for editing, but I did not. I was too determined to figure it out. I did look it up after I got back from lunch and turns out it’s pretty easy to do. Just touch the screen right above the shutter button or along the bottom of the frame if you are in horizontal mode. Wish I had read that before, but now I’m prepared for future picture opportunities. Regardless I think this app will indeed improve my iphone photography especially as I learn to use all of its settings correctly.
